Hope has been serving Teesside for over 30 years and has been at the forefront of community action and support in the region. We have a small staff team and deliver many different services.

We’re looking for a receptionist who can help create the safe, welcoming, inclusive culture we’re committed to and who can also keep our administrative systems accurate and up to date.


  • Your job as our receptionist would be to make sure our learners and service users are and feel safe, welcome and cared about.
  • You will maintain our administrative systems, in line with GDPR, to ensure efficient, successful and auditable service provision.

Job description

Your role will include:

  • welcoming and signposting learners, visitors and service users and ensuring they sign in
  • managing incoming and outgoing post, including exam papers
  • effective communication with learners and service users
  • organising events in centre and elsewhere
  • administrative tasks to support our contracts and projects; such as keeping learner records up to date and preparing enrolment paperwork
  • keeping the centre tidy and welcoming
  • ensuring Health and Safety processes are upheld

Person Specification

Must have:

  • excellent people skills and be effective at motivating people from various backgrounds and with a broad range of abilities and needs
  • strong customer service skills and the ability to make people from all walks of life comfortable
  • good attentional to detail
  • a non-judgemental attitude and be committed to Equality and Diversity and the needs of the client group
  • a good all-round knowledge of IT, Internet, email, MS Office applications and Social Media
  • the ability to keep accurate records electronically and manually

Must be:

  • welcoming and understanding
  • able to respond to the needs of The Hope Foundation and its customers appropriately
  • systematic, organised and able to prioritise
  • interested in self-development

Job details

  • Location: Hope House, 1 Grange Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 5BA
  • Salary: up to £22 500 dependent on skills and experience
  • Hours: Part-time, full-time or job share will be considered.
