How furbd works

A simple journey with real purpose

Every device that comes to furbd has the chance to help someone get online, stay connected, or move forward.

Our role is to make sure each one is handled with care and reaches the right person, in the right way.

Step by step

1. A device is donated

Every device that comes to furbd has the chance to help someone get online, stay connected, or move forward.

Our role is to make sure each one is handled with care and reaches the right person, in the right way.

2. Securely wiped and carefully refurbished

Every device is securely wiped to protect personal data. It is then checked, cleaned, and refurbished so it is safe, reliable, and ready to use.

Care and quality matter at every step.

3. Local partners spot digital need

furbd works with 138 trusted distributors across the Tees Valley.

These partners are based in the community and are often the first to see where lack of digital access is holding someone back.

4. Devices are matched to people's goals

Distributors request devices based on what someone needs them for, such as learning, work, or staying connected.

furbd prepares the right device to support that next step.

5. Devices reach the people who need them most

Once ready, devices are passed back to the distributor, who supports the person to receive and use them.

This trusted, local approach helps ensure devices are used in ways that really matter.

Why this works

Because the people closest to the need help guide the process.

furbd’s distributors are on the frontline across the Tees Valley. They see digital exclusion first hand and understand what will make the biggest difference.

This means devices are matched with purpose and supported by people who already know and support the individual.

Every device has a story

No two journeys are the same, but every device refurbished through furbd helps open a door.

From donation to delivery, each step is about turning unused technology into access and opportunity.

Want to be part of the journey

If you would like to donate technology, become a distributor, or support digital inclusion across the Tees Valley, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
