Jet Aire Services donate 15 computers

Jet Aire Services is helping to provide digital connectivity for Teesside households in need following a donation of fifteen computers to the Hope Foundation charity.

Working in partnership with Middlesbrough Collective, the Hope Foundation has launched a new initiative to source, collect and refurbish unwanted laptop and desktop devices from businesses and other organisations throughout the region. The Middlesbrough-based charity is distributing the computers to families and individuals who are suffering from a lack of access to digital resources at home. Jet Aire is supporting the programme with the purchase of a batch of brand-new Chromebook laptops to donate to the cause.
Jet Aire Services Managing Director, Darren Pavan, said:

“The pandemic has made us all appreciate the importance of digital connectivity as a basic need in our lives, providing a vital source of information and enabling us to maintain social relationships. Covid has brought society’s digital inequalities into sharp relief, particularly in education where many children and parents are unable to manage home schooling due to a lack of technology and online resources.

“With schools not expected to re-open until mid-March at the earliest, we approached Tees Valley Combined Authority to offer a donation. That’s how we got involved with the project being organised by the Hope Foundation, which is doing some excellent work to bridge the digital gap. We welcomed the opportunity to work with the charity and play our part in supporting their efforts in making a difference to our local community.”

Sue Kearney, CEO of the Hope Foundation, said:

“With links to schools and community groups in the region, the Hope Foundation is identifying people most in need. Middlesbrough Collective and Tees Valley Combined Authority have also helped us to connect with local businesses. We are extremely grateful to Jet Aire for stepping forward for their local community and providing these brand-new laptops at a time when digital resources are needed more than ever.”
